Why wouldn’t a company like Canon be nicer to their customers?

It’s important to fulfill your customer’s needs and not constantly spam them and try to get them (or trick them) into even more promotional e-mail they don’t want. Curiously, some big reputable companies (like Canon) just don’t get it.
