We Highly Recommend Freelancer’s Union Networking Events

A few weeks ago Dan and I went to the networking event put on by the Freelancers Union. We were very pleasantly surprised by how it went. We had gone to a similar event put on by a different group a few years before and it amounted to a bunch of desperate people hitting us up hoping for work. That wasn't the case at all at the Freelancers Union event. Here's some of our interactions...

One of the first people we met were Kenneth Fisher and Andria Johnson of Fisher Creative Services. We had a fair amount in common with them and when I asked "so how do you handle sales?" we were instantly on the same page since they had spent the last few days discussing that exact issue.

We met Kara Masi, a web designer Dan has continued to chat with regarding possible future projects we might work on together.

I met Eugene Tawiah of Complex Technologies who I think of next time someone asks me who they should use for desktop and network support.

Dan met someone who ran a print shop who gave him an excellent quote on business cards.

Towards the end I met Suzanne Goraj who does writing and editing. We had a great discussion and I expect we may be calling her in the next few months to edit the next version of our web site.

But best of all, at the end Dan met Paul Vellucci and in discussing things with him, it looks like he'll be coming on as a part-time sales person, which is something we've needed for a while now, so we're quite excited about that...

All in all it was an excellent event and we're looking forward to the next one.
