The number of Mac laptops at 4D Summit 2007 was incredible. 4D developers seem to love their Macs and our server stats reflect the preference as well.

4D will be releasing a Flex library that allows direct SQL access to 4D databases. This presents interesting options for 4D developers working on Web 2.0 applications.

I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw of the 4D Ajax framework at 4D Summit. For certain applications it’s extremely powerful, and the “no code” admin tool is a lot better than you might imagine.

Laurent Ribardière’s comment at 4D Summit about avoiding triggers may make sense from a technical standpoint, but not from a business perspective. The take away should be to minimize the use of triggers – don’t avoid them unless it suits your business needs.

4D Live Window is a plug in for 4D which allows you to display the contents of a web page on a form in a 4D application. Sounds like a great idea, but there are a lot of things you need to know to implement Live Window successfully.
