4D will be releasing a Flex library that allows direct SQL access to 4D databases. This presents interesting options for 4D developers working on Web 2.0 applications.

Sergiy Temnikov of 4D SAS gave a great talk on how 4D v11 integrates SQL into the 4D language, and where 4D developers should start if they’re just learning SQL.

The biggest improvement in 4D v11 SQL has to be the core database engine itself. In this session two of the best minds at 4D SAS went over the changes to the database engine and how it behaves differently (and better) than its predecessors.

This session at 4D Summit was an introduction to SQL for 4D programmers as well as an introduction to how SQL is integrated with the 4D language in 4D v11 SQL.
